We’re pleased to announce an all-new trail maintenance pilot program at Little Mountain Park. This new program is funded by the City of Mount Vernon Parks & Recreation Dept and was developed in conjunction with Mount Vernon Trail Builders and Mount Vernon Parks Foundation. Their first session on July 8th was a big success with MVTB veterans, Bret Turner and Caroline Sandbo, leading work on the La-Z-Boy trail by several hearty AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers from Community Action of Skagit County.
Winter is Coming!
Rather than building new trails, this new program* is limited to maintenance (improving tread and drainage) on two of Little Mountain’s most popular trails; La-Z-Boy and Bonny & Clyde’s. These special sessions will help keep our busiest trails in great shape for all users throughout the coming winter … and beyond.
We’re now seeking individuals and/or groups ready to have some fun while doing a little hard work and getting dirty – All while enjoying Mount Vernon’s greatest park! All volunteers are asked to please arrive on time for the safety orientation and are welcome to leave early if necessary. Tools, training and supervision provided by City of Mount Parks and Recreation staff. The remaining special trail maintenance session dates are:

*Unlike the MVTB’s privately supported Saturday sessions, all volunteers for these City funded Friday sessions must be over the age of 14. Also unlike MVTB's privately supported Saturday sessions, lunch is not provided - so volunteers are encouraged to bring something to eat for themselves.
