Thank you, Trail Builders!

MVPF is sending out a heartfelt Thank You to all of the trail builders who came out and donated their time to build new trails in Little Mountain Park this year. We completed Bonnie & Clyde's Trail and Ginny's Trail in the northwest corner of the park. We then spent the bulk of the summer working on the Nature Trail from the new East Park Entrance. Our volunteers built a professional wooden bridge across a creek and are currently working on connecting the Nature Trail to La-Z-Boy. We could not do this work without the dedication and unfaltering interest of our supporters and community members. Thank you to Mount Vernon Parks and Mayor Boudreau for their continued support.

Here's to a great 2012 and continued success in 2013. Happy Thanksgiving!

Old School Trail Building Techniques

We're back to our old school building techniques; shovels, wheelbarrows, McLeods and Pulaskis. Between now and the first of the year we intend to connect the Nature Trail to La-Z-Boy. We believe the East Entrance will be a very popular trailhead.

We hope to see you Saturday, October 13th, 2012. Our session will start at 10:00am at the East Trailhead. As always we start our day with donated Starbucks Coffee and pastries from Haggen Foods. Our group will provide lunch, this session we'll be having Subway sandwiches.

The Nature Trail & Bridge Officially Open

On September 28th we had our ribbon cutting and celebration for the Nature Trail and our new bridge. People gathered at the new east park entrance for a short presentation by the Larry Otos, Director of the Mount Vernon Parks Department, Mayor Jill Boudreau, and Mary Alice Vivian.

The ribbon was cut and everyone was invited to walk out the trail to see the bridge. Come on out to the east entrance and see the new bridge for yourself.

We'll be connecting this trail to the rest of the existing Little Mountain Park trail system sometime this fall. Please feel free to join our trail work parties the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.
