This Saturday We Ramp Up Our Fall Trail Building Projects

On Saturday (9/14) we'll resume work on Bonnie & Clyde's. This is after taking August off. From below, on a lower trail section, it looks like a rockery, almost looking like a flower bed.

As you can now see (from up top), it's a trail -- not a flowerbed.

This sign on Bonnie & Clyde's is incorrect, it's no longer rough. We hope to see a lot of you Saturday. We got the moisture we needed -- let's go to work!

Thank You to Trail Builder Volunteers

Thanks to everyone who came out this past Saturday. The weather was perfect and the mosquitoes even stayed away. We didn't have a featured group, but a large number of our regular volunteers and a few new people joined us. There were a couple people who earned the prestigious MVTB t-shirt as well. This is given to any volunteer with at least 10 hours of trail building volunteer work with MVTB.

MVPF would like to thank Windermere Real Estate Skagit Valley for their help at our June 22 volunteer session. We put them to work on our current trail, Bonnie & Clyde's, and were very happy with the effort they put in.

Hard work puts smiles on our volunteers' faces.

Trail building is a great family friendly activity. Here Art and Emma tackle a root in the trail.

We have a new volunteer, Zachary Klein, who is 9 years old. The whole family attended our last session. His father, David, and brother, Nathan, who is 14, earned their shirts last session. We're betting the rest of the family, Jill, Emily (age 12), and Zachary, will be doing the same.

The first load of rock on Bonnie & Clyde's. A special thanks to the Parks Department, the power carrier now works perfectly. This was also the first trip on new rubber tracks.

Material (the dirt) was being moved to the corner from two directions. The rock (hauled from below), the mineral soil (brown in color) being brought down from above using our disc brake equipped wheelbarrows.

Saying "Our Girls Rock" would be an understatement; from left to right you see: Maggie Sullivan, Lynn Postler, Wendy LaRocque and Diane Kaplan. They collectively played a key role in building one of our best rock walls to date. Hopefully they'll be in attendance this coming session. We had an amazingly productive session!

Here Art Tuftee sees how the corner flows. It's well after the session ended, kind of a wind-down ritual. It was Art that stated, "This is one of our best walls yet."

Final statement: On Saturday June 22nd Windermere Real Estate will be our featured group, we hope to have a great turnout.
