We'd like to thank The Porterhouse for their support. They are this session's featured volunteer group.

This Saturday we will be working on the upper end of our new Nature Trail, where it connects to La-Z-Boy.

We meet in Little Mountain Park at 10:00am and usually work until about 4:30pm. We will start the morning with fresh pastries and doughnuts from Haggen and hot coffee from Starbucks. For lunch we will have homemade soup delivered.

Volunteer Work Begins on the Nature Trail

This past Saturday the weather was beautiful and we had enough volunteers that we split into two groups. One group began work on the new Nature Trail which will connect Little Mountain Road to La-Z-Boy. The other group performed maintenance and improvements on our existing trails; Upper Surfer's Way, Huff and Puff, and La-Z-Boy. We cleared deadfall and trimmed tree branches in preparation for the next phase of trailbuilding.

Join us at our next session where we will begin work on the other end of the trail from La-Z-Boy.

This Saturday we will begin work on the new nature trail which will connect Little Mountain Road to the trail system in Little Mountain Park. We will have fresh doughnuts and pastries from Haggen and hot coffee from Starbucks. The session starts at 10:00am at Little Mountain Park and we usually finish by 4:00pm.

Two New Trails Built at Little Mountain Park

During our January 28th session we finished two new hiking trails. The first trail, Bonnie & Clyde's, leaves from the bottom of Fred's Trail and heads to the west. It winds around the ridge and connects to the second new trail, Ginny's Trail, which connects to the parking area at the top of the mountain. The route formed by these two trails is an easier alternate route to Fred's Trail. Here is a temporary map that shows this new route in solid red.

We had another delicious soup and bread lunch provided by Roger and Leslie Estep. We can't thank them enough for their support.

We had a lot of rock and soil to move that session. Fortunately we had a prototype wheelbarrow that has been outfitted with a mountain bike mechanical disc brake. Here Art Tuftee shows how easy it is to control a heavy load of rock on a steep downhill section of trail.
