Work On The Nature Trail Bridge Continues

Our plan is to finish our bridge forms and continue setting more rock and gravel. Friday we start at 9:00 am. Saturday we start at 10:00 am.

Since we have no featured groups this weekend we need your help. Tomorrow please bring a lunch, but on Saturday we’ll host lunch of sandwiches, chips, and fruit.

To find us stay on Little Mountain Road, driving east beyond the Little Mountain Park entrance and beaver pond. You'll see us at the gravel piles on the right side of the road.

We hope you will join us this weekend.

Little Mountain Park Expansion Opportunity

Please join us at a City Council meeting Wednesday evening at 7:00pm at the Mount Vernon Police Department. Mount Vernon is extremely fortunate to be faced with a once in a lifetime opportunity. This Wednesday our City Council will hear a Skagit Land Trust and Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation proposal to increase the size of Little Mountain Park by 120 acres. The forest and wetlands we hope the City will buy is known as the Hidden Lakes property.

It's our understanding that not all of the City Council members support this purchase, so this is a very important meeting. We hope you and your like-minded friends will join us for this meeting. While public comment will not be taken we need to show our support.

Please join us Wednesday evening and forward a link to this blog post via email or Facebook.

Thank You Windermere/Skagit Valley

  • Thanks to Windermere Realty for their volunteer group this past Friday and Saturday. For the two days they had a total of 90.1 volunteer hours. This is our new record for our featured groups. Windermere has a corporate Community Service Day and chose our group to help. We thank them for their support. Here is the Windermere crew sitting on the “Windermere Wall”, a rock retaining wall they built on the Nature Trail.

This week we break ground on the bridge, digging the bridge footings. Tomorrow we will start at 9:00 am and on Saturday at 10:00 am. Lunch is being provided by Windermere Real Estate Friday and on Saturday by the Estep family. We’re doing our best to keep great lunches coming. Thanks Josh and Leslie.

And of special note, it is believed that this week's featured group may set a new record. Windermere agents will be working both Friday and Saturday. We have a great deal of work to do, so everyone is welcome.
