Please Join Us for Bridge Building

We mixed, transported and poured the concrete last weekend and it went exactly as planned. We moved the 36' White Alaskan Cedar Glue Lams close to the bridge site. This weekend we'll strip the forms and set and affix the beams. We hope you'll want to be a part of this important milestone.

On Friday we'll start at 9:00 am, and on Saturday at 10:00 am. Friday you'll need to bring your own lunch, but Saturday our group is providing a lunch of Subway sandwiches. We believe in feeding our volunteers, but it's hard to pull off. Right now we can afford it because a couple individuals made generous donations. If any of you know of a deli or a restaurant that would like to help with donations, or by providing MVTB with great deals, we'd love to hear about it.

Two Great Trail Building Sessions

We had a great group of volunteers join us on Friday and Saturday this week to get the concrete bridge footings poured. On Friday the two 36' glulams were delivered.

They were carefully moved down the trail closer to the bridge site.

On Saturday Art Tuftee setup a high line across the creek where the bridge will be built so that we could move buckets of concrete across and pour the far footing.

We'd like to thank Big Lake Grocery for the lunch they provided on Friday. And also thank you to the Mount Vernon Food Co-Op for their continued support. We hope to see you all again next Friday and Saturday as we begin building the bridge.

Our bridge is still on schedule and we hope to keep it that way. Our plan is to mix, transport, and pour concrete Friday and Saturday. We will also be moving 36' White Alaskan Cedar Glue Lams in to the bridge site.

Unfortunately this week we do not have a session sponsor, so we hope as many of you as possible will make it out. On Friday we will start at 9:00 am, and on Saturday at 10:00 am.

On Friday lunch will be provided by Big Lake Grocery, and on Saturday it will be provided by the Skagit Valley Food Co-Op.

We hope you'll join us, we have a lot to get done.
