Please Support Trail Building at Little Mountain Park

Our 2013 trail building season is off to a great start. We expect to finish our newest trail this coming session (3/9). It's called Cairn Trail and it links the Nature Trail to another trail called La-Z-Boy. If you're not familiar with the trail names please take a look at our map. When we finish this project we're jumping to the west side of the park for another major project. We're extending Bonnie & Clyde's east, connecting it to the mid-mountain area. To make this happen we need your support. Simply put, the more volunteers and hours worked – the faster we complete trails. The Mount Vernon Parks Department has approved plans for a couple years worth of trail building on Little Mountain, given our current pace. But with increased support it simply goes faster.

There are three ways you can help:

1. Volunteer at any trail building session. No need to sign-up in advance, just show up – come for a couple hours or the day. Refer to our trail building schedule, maybe even print it out – taping it to your fridge. Reminder notes work great.

2. Recruit your own group. Maybe friends, bring your family, or get co-workers to join you. This is what we call our featured group program. To learn more email us. It's not a big deal, it's mostly a lot of fun.

3. Or make a financial contribution. While it is a family friendly activity, and we think it's fun – maybe it does not interest you. If not, no worries – you can still help. You can support our work by making a donation. Donations are used to purchase tools, and support our trail builders with food, snacks and drinks. Any amount helps, and it's tax deductible.

Thanks!

More Work On The Bonnie & Clyde Trail

While last session went well and the weather was good, our turnout was a touch off. So we didn't finish the trail as we had hoped, but we will this session for sure. That means next session, March 9th, we'll be back to work on Bonnie & Clyde's. We are extending it further east to create a new southern loop.

Last session Jenny Sandbo provided soup and it was amazing. This session our "original" soup lady, Leslie Estep, will be back. As always our session will start at 10:00 am. We begin our session with hot Starbucks Coffee and fresh Haggen pastries, all donated. And Skagit Valley Food Coop is donating healthy snacks, fruit and drinks. A special thanks to all of our donors.

We hope to see a lot of you Saturday.

Another Great Trail Work Session!

The weather cooperated fairly well and we were able to make further improvements on our newest trail. We had a lot of material to move so we were making use of Skagit County Parks and Recreation's power carrier, which we have used a number of times in the past. Unfortunately it developed a problem preventing it from driving. Steve from Mount Vernon Parks Department came out and fixed it for us on the trail. Thanks to Steve, Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation, and Skagit County Parks and Recreation for their continued support!

This is one of several areas that were fixed that day.

Thank you to all of our volunteers, Starbucks Coffee, and Haggen. Also thank you to Jenny Sandbo for lunch and to Pat Granahan for minding the camp for us.

We Got a Lot Of Trail Work Done But, We're Not Finished

While our last session was incredibly wet, with 36 volunteers we got a lot done. This session we're going back to the same area, hopefully to finish it.

Thanks Hella for your amazing stew, and Pat for your homemade bread. Lunch this session is being prepared by our own Jenny Sandbo. Soup ingredients and Breadfarm bread are being donated by Skagit Valley Food Coop. And always our session starts at 10:00 am with donated fresh Haggen pastries and hot Starbucks coffee. A special thanks to all of our donors.

Our 2012 top team was Shell Oil Refinery of Anacortes. Last year as a group we amassed four thousand volunteer hours. That was up one thousand volunteer hours from 2011, giving us almost ten thousand hours since our inception. Congratulations everyone!

We hope to see you Saturday!
