SKAGIT WILDLIFE AREA
Telegraph Slough

12220 WA-20, MOUNT VERNON, WA

Laying in the immediate vicinity of the Swinomish Channel slough area around the bridges crossing it for highway 20, this area protects the breeding grounds of many Great Blue Heron and other waterfowl of the Puget Sound. The Department of Natural Resources manages hunting and wildlife observation in this freshwater wetland.

Be advised:

  • This area does not have onsite parking. Parking and restrooms can be found at WDFW Skagit Wildlife Area Headquarters Unit boat launch.

  • Waterfowl hunting occurs on a portion of this site and may influence your viewing trip. Please check current hunting regulations. Waterfowl season begins in mid-October and runs through the last weekend in January.
